Club rides and meets in the UK

This programme of events, mostly organised by members for members, provides an opportunity for members to take part in a variety of events in the UK. If you can arrange an event of any kind, please contact the relevant co-ordinator well in advance. Meets require long lead times and should be planned, and booked, well ahead.

April 28: North Downs, Surrey

A circular ride from Dorking station taking in the North Downs Way and the trails near Leith Hill. Meet 10-30 at from of Dorking station (Grid Ref: TQ171503). c25km, including 20+ km on off-road trails. Approx 4hours plus lunch and breaks.

 

June 9 – 10: Peak District Classic, Derbyshire.

A weekend of led mountain bike rides with Level 2 qualified leaders. Sample some of the classic MTB rides in the Hope Valley.  Meet on both days at Café Adventure, Hope S33 6ZF (Grid Ref: SK172835). Book own accommodation (Adventure Bunkhouse, Castleton Road, Hope S33 6SB and campsites nearby).

 

AAC (UK) Mountain Biking Group

The first of the club’s Mountain Biking Leaders to take part in British Cycling’s MTB Leader Level 2 programme completed their training at Plas y Brenin in October.  These members received a grant from the AAC (UK) as part of a programme to develop Mountain Biking in the club.  The aim is to develop a network of qualified MTB Leaders around the country. with leaders organising events in their areas. As the group develops, meets and tours overseas will be organised. If you feel you have the skills to complete British Cycling’s Leader Level 2 training (www.britishcycling.org.uk/mtbleadership) a grant may be available.
