Meets and Tours – outside the UK

This programme of meets and tours outside the UK provides an opportunity for members to take part in a wide variety of events.

If you are not yet a member but would like to take part in any of these events, you must first join the AAC(UK). Only then will you have access to the booking information in the password-protected Members’ Area of this website.

Club Meets and Tours outside the UK in 2018

Tours marked ## are now fully booked but enquire about possible vacancies.

March 4 – 10: Sellrain, Austria

A four/five day hut-to-hut ski tour in the Sellrain area of the Austrian Tyrol.  Starting from Kühtai ski resort we will navigate through the mountains, staying above 2000m with ascents up to 3200m altitude.  This tour will suit an intermediate to advanced ski tourer with good fitness who is looking to get away from the usual honey pot destinations.

March 19 – 24: Tuxer Alps, Austria

Intermediate grade ski tour on non-glaciated terrain with peaks up to 2900m. Weidener Hütte (3 nights) and Lizumer Hütte (2 nights). The tour will suit experienced ski tourers who may not be at the peak of fitness required for more arduous tours, or less experienced tourers who wish to gain competence before venturing into the higher Alps. It is not suitable for beginners.

April 3 – 10: Silvretta, Austria ##

Intermediate grade hut-to-hut ski tour on glaciated terrain.

July 12 – 16:  AAC(UK) 70th Anniversary Celebration, Hohe Tauern, Austria

Long weekend meet (4 nights) based at the superb Berghotel Rudolfshütte in the Granatspitzgruppe mountains near Zell am See in the Hohe Tauern National Park.  There will be plenty to do with opportunities for hiking, mountaineering, klettersteig and climbing as well as relaxing in the hotel’s spa facilities.

July 24 – August 4:  Dolomites, Italy

Tour from Sexten to Fanes, mostly hut to hut. Starting at Moos, in the north-east of South Tyrol, and ending at Stern in Abteita. Multiple nights in Cortina and Fanes. Some protected-path sections, some steep or narrow, exposed sections.

September 3 – 12: Dolomites, Italy ##

Hut to hut traverse of the Dolomites following the Alta Via 1, a classic long distance trail. Divided into manageable sections to savour and enjoy stunning views.

September 4 – 12:  Lechtaler Alps, Austria

Hut to hut tour through superb limestone scenery. Starting at Rufikopfbahn, Lech, finishing at Bschlabs. 84km in length and 7000m total ascent. Possible opportunities to climb adjacent peaks en-route. Start and finish points easily accessible from Innsbruck.
