Alpine Huts in Austria – Click for link
Members are entitled to a reduction in bed charges up to €10 per night in all huts in belonging to the ÖAV (Austrian Alpine Association) and DAV (German Alpine Club), with reductions in other huts belonging to members of the Association of Alpine Clubs of Austria (VAVÖ) plus over 70 private guesthouses and hostels.

Our members also enjoy reduced accommodation rates in all mountain huts belonging to the national mountaineering federations of Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, and Switzerland.

Members’ Insurance – Alpenverein Weltweit Service (AWS) – Click for link
All current members are covered by the AWS rescue and repatriation service during their membership year. The ÖAV insurance policies are provided by Austrian companies and governed by Austrian law. Cover is worldwide and primarily for mountain rescue, it is NOT comprehensive travel insurance and you may need to take out additional insurance to meet all your requirements. It is also possible to purchase additional insurance (KNOX Alpenverein premium single trip cover) if your trip is more than 8 weeks long or if you are going on trips with planned ascents of mountains with summits over 6000m in height. This is only available to current members who reside permanently within Europe.

Expedition Fund and Grants – Click for link
The Expedition fund enables mountaineering expeditions run by its members if it considers such expeditions to be relevant to the Club’s aims and of a worthwhile nature. This funding has been entirely donated by our members for this specific purpose. We are particularly keen to support small independent expeditions run and composed of younger members in the early stages of their mountaineering careers.
