  • Members’ Insurance – Alpenverein Weltweit Service (AWS) – Click for link

All current members are covered by the AWS rescue and repatriation service during their membership year. The ÖAV insurance policies are provided by Austrian companies and governed by Austrian law.  Cover is worldwide and primarily for mountain rescue, it is NOT comprehensive travel insurance and you may need to take out additional insurance to meet all your requirements.  It is also possible to purchase additional insurance (KNOX Alpenverein premium single trip cover) if your trip is more than 8 weeks long or if you are going on trips with planned ascents of mountains with summits over 6000m in height.  This is only available to current members who reside permanently within Europe.

The Expedition fund enables mountaineering expeditions run by its members if it considers such expeditions to be relevant to the Club’s aims and of a worthwhile nature. This funding has been entirely donated by our members for this specific purpose. We are particularly keen to support small independent expeditions run and composed of younger members in the early stages of their mountaineering careers.

Mountaineering Equipment Suppliers offering Discounts to Club Members, offer mountaineering clothing and equipment to our members at specially discounted prices. Purely to avoid any legal liability, we are unable to provide any Club endorsement, and any sales contracts are between members and the commercial organisations concerned.

This new Facebook group is run by members, not the Club, so that they can contact each other about short notice activities, sales and other items of interest.
